Picture Jasper Necklace $80

One might think that a scene had been painted on the cabochon seen in these photos. You would be forgiven if you thought that, but this is the genuine article, 100 percent natural stone, and painted by Mother Nature.  Picture jasper, which I am always calling Story Jasper, takes on amazing lines and areas of color that remind the viewer of a landscape or other image. IT IS NOT PAINTED ON. The pattern goes right through the stone and you can see it on the other side.

 Picture jasper is a form of chalcedony with impurities of iron that produce banding and color.

Among its metaphysical and healing properties, picture jasper is said to strengthen the immune system and helps maintain good kidney function. The pendant seen here is an oval cabochon set on a decorative ring of copper and held in place with numerous brass prongs. All metal pieces have been given a clear lacquer coat to preserve the bright shiny coppery color.

Overall dimensions are 1 1/4 inches by 1 5/8 inches. The cord is black woven cotton and is 24 inches long finished with wound copper hooks.
