Serpentine Cabochon Pendant $80

A region on the Pennsylvania-Maryland border, near where the Susquehanna River flows down to the Chesapeake Bay, is known for serpentine, a highly prized green building stone. When serpentine is cut into a cabochon and polished, it is delightful to look at with its rich and varied intermix of greens, whites, reds, and blacks. Sometimes they resemble abstract landscapes (see photo below).

Serpentine is reputed to have considerable metaphysical power. Some of the many uses ascribed to it include protection from poisonous creatures, help to become better attuned to one's spirituality, assistance in astral projection, and use as an anti-aging agent.

Whether this stone possess such powers is a matter for you to discover for yourself. What I will attest to is that the pendant is beautiful. I am extremely pleased to be able to offer it to you.

The piece is an oval with overall dimensions, 26mm x 33mm. The stone is set in brass that was formed into a ring and a small loop for a chain or cord is soldered to the top.

The inside of the main ring was ground to a slightly concave shape and is perfectly sized to accept the oval serpentine cabochon. One might call this setting a bezel, but it is really much heavier and stronger than a bezel.
This design has the advantage of allowing the stone to be visible from both sides.

This beautiful pendant is totally handmade. I started with a piece of brass wire and a rock I pulled out of a stream near Cedar Hill, PA. The pendant comes with a simple black woven cotton cord.

Price, inclusive of shipping is $80.
