Serpentine reputedly assists in astral travel. It is a beautiful green color and maybe its metaphysical qualities are derived from the captivating swirling mix of color seen as you gaze upon the stone.

Triphylite cabochon, copper and brass setting

I collected this nice triphylite from the Palermo Mine in Groton New Hampshire. It has a waxy luster, opaque, with green red and brown colors.

Triphylite's reputed metaphysical powers include ability to calm, and to improve ones cheerfulness. "It lets in the light," according to some sources. Triphylite is also supposed to bring good luck when gambling. Try at your own risk!

Triphylite's chemical composition is a lithium iron phosphate, and maybe that is one of the reasons for its possible calming properties. Lithium is used in the treatment of various forms of depression, and other psychological disorders.

Triphylite with 2 loops in setting

Here is another cabochon of Triphylite. Note that the prong setting has two loops in it for a chain or cord, not one, as in the pendant above. This piece does NOT come with a cord as the others do.

Ruby cabochon in brass prong setting

This pendant is made with a treated ruby from Madagascar. Although I shaped and polished the stone, this is one of the few that I did not actually find myself.

Metaphysical properties attributed to the ruby include lowering blood pressure, and helping through childbirth. Its devotees use it to raise energy level and in treatment of fever.

Ruby and sapphire are both forms of corrundum, second only to diamond in hardness.

Treated rubies are coated with powdered glass and heated so that imperfections in the ruby's surface are coated and made less visible by the melted glass.

This Jasper pendant has a cabochon made of red jasper I collected in Cave Creek, Arizona. Among its metaphysical qualities are blood purification and protection from negative energies. Jasper is believed to expand one's creative thinking.
