Gorgeous Spencer Opal Pendant in Nickel Silver $40

Hammered from heavy nickel-silver stock and brought to a high polish, this ring pendant circles a beautiful opal triplet that has unusual red fire in it. Suitable for a chain or chord. This is bound to become a family heirloom.

A ring within a ring. The thin bezel is actually fine silver because of its softness. Nickel-silver is too stiff and unyielding to wrap around the fragile opal.

These next pictures are from the construction phase. The metal is formed around a ring mandrel and soldered. Then it is hammered to give the ring its beautiful texture. A flattened tongue of metal is soldered onto one side of the ring, part of which becomes the loop for the chain or chord, and part which supports the stone.
During the hammering, I noticed the beautiful reflection of the underside of the ring and of the hammer above, in my anvil.
